LIVE

We love spending time in Scandinavia. Having lived in Sweden as a child and having rediscovered the delights of Scandinavian living as an adult with my family we want to share some of the exciting experiences and terrific aspects of life in the Nordic countries.

We started going regularly to Scandinavia when my husband and I were first married, as I wanted him to experience some of my Scandinavian heritage. Pete quickly fell in love with the seasonal and naturalistic side of Scandinavian country life (you can imagine my surprise at seeing my English city boy husband yomping through the woods collecting mushrooms in his special basket!). As the years have passed we have fallen in love with more and more parts of Sweden and Denmark and our fondness for both city and country life in that beautiful part of the world has increased with every visit.

Having returned to London with the spoils of our exploits on many occasions our friends and family here have reacted so enthusiastically to gifts ranging from wild mushrooms to gorgeous designer clothes for their children, that we were encouraged and persuaded to set up a website that gave a wider access to some of the beautiful things that we have found on our trips.

Clearly in the Shop section you can buy a variety of stunning clothes and accessories for your children. We also wanted to share some of the wonderful recipes, traditions and ways of living that are enjoyed by Scandinavian people both in their homelands and wherever they live in the world.

We will update this area of the site on a monthly basis to keep you in touch with the seasonal changes, festivals, activities and recipes from the different times of the year. We hope you will enjoy both reading about and perhaps trying out some of the things in this section.

From fireworks in the snow at the stroke of midnight on New Years Eve through Easter witches, Midsummer dances, crayfish parties in August to little girls with candle headdresses at the Lucia procession in December and the joys of Christmas in the homelands of ‘Jultomten’ (Santa) we hope you’ll share our enthusiasm!
